Midnight Reports Follow
The Reports module in Midnight enables users to view reports from various departments.
To access the Reports module, click on the Paper Icon located between the Shop Floor Display view and the Administration Settings.
This will navigate you to the Reports home screen, where you can choose report types to view and send reports from.
Navigation
The drop-down menus (+) on the left of each Report Type Object will display the various reports available for report creation.
You can hide Report Type Objects, such as Order Reports, Estimate Reports, and Warehouse Item Request Reports, as they are typically accessed through their respective functions in Midnight. To hide these reports, go to the Admin menu, navigate to Report Type Objects, and choose Yes or No to display or hide them in the Reports Menu.
You can also limit access to reports by certain security roles. For instance, you may not want to allow Accounting reports to be viewed by your Account Reps. To set these roles/rights, access the Admin menu, navigate to Create RoleRight, select the Security Role and click on Reports.
Here you can select which reports you want to be locked out from the selected security role. Check the name of the report in the window on the left, click Add, and they will be added to the list of Locked Out Reports and will no longer be viewable for employees with that security role.
Selecting a Report
At this time, the Report View offers four types of reports, each represented by its own icon. Here’s what each icon represents:
-
(Legacy): All Standard Midnight Legacy Reports are slated to be deprecated and will no longer be supported by Print Reach. The deprecation schedule for legacy reports was announced on February 17, 2025. To identify reports slated for deprecation, access the Active Legacy Report Objects report under "Other Reports." If you rely on any of these legacy reports, they must be cloned and recreated as User-Modified reports before the deprecation date specified in the schedule. Please note that simply renaming these reports is insufficient—they must be cloned and fully recreated.
-
(Stock): Standard Midnight Reports cannot be edited by users and are maintained exclusively by the Print Reach staff. These reports are fully supported by Print Reach.
-
(Custom): Implementation/Professional Services Custom Reports can only be edited by Print Reach staff and are fully supported by Print Reach. For assistance with creating custom reports, you can reach out to the Print Reach support team at support@printreach.com.
-
(Modified): User-Modified Reports are editable by users and are not supported by Print Reach. For assistance, you can reach out to the Print Reach support team at support@printreach.com. Any changes to these reports requested through Professional Services/Support will require a quote from Print Reach and will incur additional charges.
Selecting a report, enables you to:
- Print the report (PDF, Preview, Print)
- Open (allows import of a .mrt file).
- Save the report as multiple file types, such as PDF, Word, Excel, etc.
- Create Report (create a new report or clone an existing report).
- Edit Report (edit the selected report).
- Email (email the selected report).
Cloning a Report
Clicking the Create Report button on the main report screen opens a small tab. The Report Scope is set to User Modified by default. Users can specify the Report Type (Report Type Objects), Report Name (internal name and name of the attachment if emailed), Display Name (how it appears in the report menu), and select a report to clone. After entering the required information, you will be directed to the report editing screen for further customization. Once the desired changes are added, click the File tab and select Save to save your progress.
Editing Reports
Midnight users can only edit User-Modified reports. Selecting the Edit Report button will switch your current screen to one where you can edit the report online. This allows you to change what data is displayed, the design of the report, and add various functions to the report to show on the finalized version. You can see what the report will look like by clicking the Preview tab in the top bar. Once the desired changes are added, click the File tab and select Save to save your progress.
Emailing Reports
To email a selected report, click the Email button in the top right. From there, you can choose the recipient, add any other attachments, and include a personalized message.
