Setting Up A Test Group And Test User 101 - Article 5 of 7 Follow
It's important to understand how permissions work in MyOrderDesk. In this step we’re going to create a test group and a test user. We’ll use this newly created account to test the system.
Log into the system as a Site Administrator, click on the three horizontal bars to display the Administration Menu, then click on Users & Groups.
In the Users > Groups row, click the + button to create a new group.
Name the group Test and click OK.
Complete the Group Details and Save.
You will see that there are no users assigned to this group at this time. Select the New button to add a new user to this group. For this Test User account, we recommend using a secondary account such as a Gmail or Yahoo address. If you do not have one, have your email administrator add an alias that you can use i.e. testuser@DOMAINNAME.com.
Assign the new user an email address and password.
If you already have a user under the Everyone Group that you would like to use for the Test Group, simply change the dropdown for the Group to the Everyone Group. Navigate to the User you want to add to the new group, and select in the row. You can then click on the Assign button and choose the Test Group from the dropdown menu.
With the Test Group selected in the Group dropdown, Select the Order Form Navigation Item. We will now assign various Order Forms that we want users of this group to have access to. You can select in one row, or Shift + Click, or Shift + Command to select multiple Forms to assign.
Select the Assign button and from the dropdown menu, turn On the selected Order Form(s). The Form(s) are now accessible to everyone in the TEST group you created.
In this same area you can assign which users should be Notifiers, which Checkout Options should be available for this Group, which Reports and which Catalogs should be available.
From this screen there are other actions you can take for the particular Group, use the icons beside the Group Name in the Dropdown menu.
- Pencil Icon - Edit the Group Details
- Garbage can Icon - Delete the Group
- Envelope Icon - Send an Email to all Users in the Group
