Departments: Assigned to employees and used for labor tracking, scheduling, and reporting. These should represent the areas where employees work and should not be confused with Service Types.
Service Types: Provide the foundation for organizing your Standard Services and typically represent production departments. While you can create as many as needed, we recommend limiting them to 10 or fewer whenever possible.
Editing Employees: Employee records are used for production scheduling, reporting, time tracking, and shop floor data collection. Keeping employee information current helps ensure accurate labor tracking and workflow assignments.
Security: Controls user access and permissions throughout Midnight. Security roles determine which modules, screens, and functions each user can access.
Terms: Define the payment conditions used on Estimates, Orders, and Invoices, such as Net 30, Due on Receipt, and COD.
Tax Codes and Tax Jurisdictions: Work together to determine how sales tax is calculated. Tax Codes define taxability, while Tax Jurisdictions define the applicable tax rates and rules.
Vendors: Store information about the suppliers, manufacturers, and service providers your company purchases from. Accurate vendor records support purchasing, inventory management, and job costing.
CRM: Provides a centralized location for managing customers, prospects, contacts, activities, notes, and sales opportunities.
Customer Types: Categorize customer records into meaningful groups, such as Customer and Prospect, for reporting and marketing purposes.
Account GLIDs and Account Item Codes: Configure the General Ledger IDs (GLIDs) and Item Codes used by Standard Services, Inventory Items, and other transactions throughout Midnight. If you plan to export accounting data to QuickBooks or another accounting system, these codes should be mapped exactly to the corresponding accounts and item codes in your accounting package to ensure accurate financial reporting and data synchronization.
