File Forwarding Feature (SFTP) Follow
The FTP protocol is no longer supported due to security vulnerabilities. You must use SFTP (Secure File Transfer Protocol) for all file forwarding. This guide provides the updated steps.
The steps involved in setting up the SFTP File Forwarding feature are as follows:
Step 1: Go into your MyOrderDesk site, click on the three bars in the upper left corner of the page, and then click on Site Settings > Options > File Forwarding.
Step 2: Fill out the information on the page. Be sure to make the following changes:
-
Change the "Forwarding" drop-down to "SFTP (autosend)".
-
Enter your SFTP Port number (the default for SFTP is 22).
Use a slash / in the Directory field if you do not have a dedicated directory within your SFTP server. You will NOT be able to leave this field blank.
You can use the following merge fields within the Directory field to automatically create sub-folders for each job:
-
{JobID}
-
{JobSenderID}
-
{JobSenderOrganizationName}
-
{JobCategory}
-
{JobOrderFormName}
-
{JobOrderFormID}
-
{ItemCategory}
The page includes a testing function. By selecting the "Manual Forwarding" option, you can test if the setup is working correctly before enabling the automatic forwarding.
Step 3: As orders come in (or as test orders are placed), make sure all attached files are automatically uploaded to your SFTP server. You should log in to the server to confirm the files are there.
Step 4: Once you know files are being transferred successfully, you can automate file cleanup. Go to Site Settings > Options > My Jobs Options... and adjust the following:
-
Switch "Store Files" to 1 day.
-
You can also click the "Delete files after successful SFTP Forwarding" checkbox to have your files automatically deleted from your MyOrderDesk site once a transfer has been confirmed.
Once this change has been made, any stored files will be automatically deleted at the end of each day.
