Create Shop Floor Data Collection Module Login
Each machine the shopfloor app will be run on should have its own login created in the Midnight application.
- Each Shop Floor Data Collection login must have a username starting with the text ‘shopfloor’. Example, Shopfloor1, Shopfloor2, etc.
- These logins are setup in the Midnight Management system in the admin section on the Employee screen. Simply enter Shopfloor in the last name and define the username and password for the account.
- Logging in to the Shop Floor Data Collection Module is intended to be a one-time activity by a supervisor or manager. Shop Floor users will then pin in using the setup kiosk code.
Set a Security Role for the Shop Floor User
In order to log in to the shopfloor app, the security needs to have Data Collection selected.

The employee login code for an employee is defined in the Admin Module of the Midnight application on the employee page in the Job Tracking section.
Location: Admin>Employees>Select Employee>Job Tracking Tab

- Paid Break: The employee can select to break in/out for the actual time for their break, the time will only be deducted from the job costing time and not the paid time

- Employee Type: Select your Employee Type from the system-generated options.
Designate a Break and Department
Each employee must be associated with a Shift and Department to utilize the Clock In / Clock Out functionality. This is defined in Midnight Admin/Employee.
Location: Admin>Shifts>Select shift from dropdown
Midnight – Configure Shift Settings
Shifts are defined in Midnight Admin / Shifts. It’s recommended that you not delete shifts, as it may retroactively affect the times of staff previously dependent on it when generating reports.
These Break fields are displayed in the upper left corner of your Shop Floor Data Collection Module when one is Clocked In.
Midnight – Configure Break in/out labels
You may customize a label for the break-in and break-out options for when employees record their actual break time. When paid and/or unpaid breaks are enabled at the employee record, the actual break time is deducted from the job cost record(s) and the time record.
Location: Admin>Global Settings>ShopFloor
Enter the label for the break-in and out options for paid and unpaid breaks using language that would help guide your team.
Service Types
You can define the service types visible in the Shop Floor Data Collection Module.
In Midnight, go to Admin and select Service Type. You are presented with the Departments or Profit Centers that you have defined and that reside on your Estimate and Orders pages. Typically, items like Creative Work, Design, Data Processing, etc. are services that are not performed on the Shop Floor. Here you can hide them from the Shop Floor Data Collection Module by clicking the ‘Kiosk Hide’ check box.
