Creating QR Code templates in ezMerge Follow
The main functionality of the QR code is to quickly add information into a mobile device by scanning an image. How it works in MyOrderDesk is you are able to designate what variable information will be converted into a QR code image. This is great for quickly creating Contacts in your phone and other similar instances.
To add a QR Code to your EzMerge template, begin by drawing a square in adobe acrobat using your PDFLib Block tool. You can name this QR_Code. This block will need to be an "Image" type.
Once your template is ready with all your variable data and your QR_Code Block, go ahead and upload your template onto the site and fill in your settings for your other fields. When you get to the QR_Code Field, change the Field Type to Barcode (QR/128) and click the Edit Barcode Type & field map button that appears at the bottom.
There are a few different Barcode Types you can choose from with various linkable fields.
- Code 128: For Barcode Generation
- QR - Contact Info: Great for populating Contacts in a phone {Name} {Phone} {Email} {Address} {Website} {Memo}. Uses the meCard format.
- QR - VCard Info: {First Name} {Last Name} {Title} {Org/Company} {Address} {City} {State} {Zip/Postal} {Country} {Phone (cell)} {Phone (work)} {Phone (home)} {Email (work)} {Email (home)}
- QR - Email Address: For populating just an email {Email}
- QR - Free Text: For quickly populating pre-written text {Free-Text}
- QR - Geo Location: For tracking an posting location (GPS) {Latitude} {Longitude}
- QR - Phone Number: For populating just the phone number {Phone}
- QR - SMS: For populating a text message and a phone number to send to {SMS Number} {Message}
- QR - Web Address: For populating just a web URL {Web Address}
Once you select your Type, you can now map your variable fields that will generate the barcode. If you map the Name variable into the Name field, when you scan the QR code with your phone, the name will populate into said person's contacts. Fill out the rest until you are satisfied.
The last step is to test your QR Code. Try scanning the QR code with an app on your phone and see if the fields populate where they are supposed to go. There are many QR Code apps out there and some work better than others.
