Midnight v8.2.0 (2/11/2023) Release Notes Follow
Midnight Version Number Change
No, you didn't miss an update! We have changed the numbering sequence for Midnight versions to match the month in which the release is deployed. February 2023 release will be named 8.2, March 2023 will be 8.3 and so on.
Midnight Single Sign On (SSO) Support with Print Reach Products
The Print Reach product portfolio continues to grow. With this growth, there have been integrations between the various platforms Print Reach supports. With this release, we have introduced the first step in providing a more integrated sign in experience between the products. In addition to the products integrated in the short term, this effort will allow for better flexibility in the development of new features using new technology platforms.
To prepare the system for supporting Single Sign On, Midnight will require that each user with a login have a work email address assigned to their account. After the update, if the login account does not have an email address Midnight will prompt for this immediately following successful login. The user will not be able to click away from the popup screen. Type in a valid email address and click "Submit" to complete the requirement.
Print Reach Pay Link from Midnight
Using the new SSO integration, you can now link to Print Reach Pay directly from the Midnight Accounting screen. The Print Reach Pay link will replace the previous link to Merchant Track. If you already have a Print Reach Pay login account Midnight will attempt to match the Midnight user to the Print Reach Pay user to allow seamless integration. If you don't have a Print Reach Pay user account, but you had permission to view Merchant Track, Midnight will automatically create a new Print Reach Pay account with the email and account login from Midnight. Print Reach Pay permissions will still be configured in the Print Reach Pay Admin tab.
Order Concurrency Warning Message
In order to prevent data corruption where 2 or more users edit the same Order at the same time, Midnight will now display a warning message when this condition is found. If two users have the same order opened at the same time and one user makes a change and clicks Save when the second user attempts to save their changes a warning will be presented letting them know that continuing to save will override the previous users changes. Clicking "Save" will override the first users changes. Clicking Cancel will return the user to the Order without saving. The changes made by the first user will not be removed from their screen.
Keep in mind that Midnight performs a Save operation from multiple popup menus and report menus. Any time a potential concurrency issue can occur the user will be notified of the event and asked if they want to continue saving.
Receive Payment Screen Changes
Currently, the Receive Payment screen can receive payment using multiple Payment Types. Based on the requirements of the Payment Type there would sometimes be scroll bars on the popup window. We have reformatted the screen to remove the need for scroll bars.
