Midnight v9.4.0 (5/11/24) Release Notes Follow
Postage in the Print Template
We've introduced a new feature in Midnight that allows you to add postage to the Print Template, enabling you to incorporate postage costs into the print calculator for a comprehensive pricing model. Here's an overview of how it works:
Global Settings
To activate the postage feature:
- Go to Global Settings.
- Select Print/Wide Format.
- Check the box labeled Include Postage in Print Calculator.
Print Calculator
With the feature enabled, a new Postage tab appears in the print calculator. Here's how to use it:
- Select your desired print template.
- Click the Postage tab to add line items with individual markup options (percentage or dollar-based).
- The Run Details section now shows a total postage cost, including any markups.
Note: The individual markups for postage aren't yet included in the cost passed to estimates or orders. This will be addressed in our next release.
Estimates
In the estimate section, you'll see a Postage tab that mirrors the print calculator. When adding a template with postage to an estimate, the related line items appear in the Postage tab. Copying to an order or order version will also copy these line items and will be found in the Orders Data/Postage tab.
Orders
In the Data/Postage tab within Orders, you'll find a grid that shows the same postage details as the template and estimate sections. A "Copy to Postage" icon lets you push associated line items to the Postage tab.
On both the Data/Postage tab or the Postage tab, adjustments can be made by modifying the print template.
Note: Currently, all columns on the Postage grid are disabled from editing if they originate from the template. In a future release, you will be able to edit the Postage Affix, Type, and Date columns.
All New and Updated Reports
(Phase 1 customers, Look for these reports in Phase 2 on 5/11/24)
A lot of work has gone into updating our stock reports and creating new reports for your use. We are very excited to release the first phase of this project. Here is some helpful information to help you navigate the changes.
There are 3 new icons added to the original stock icon you are already familiar with. This is what they represent:
- S Icon: (Stock): Standard Midnight Reports re-designed and updated.
- C Icon: (Custom): Implementation/Professional Services Custom Reports.
- M Icon: (Modified): User Modified Reports.
The various report types will be supported in the following manner:
- The existing stock reports will retain the legacy icon and will not be supported (updated) once the new reports are added to their category.
- Stock and Pro Services Custom Reports can no longer be edited by anyone but Print Reach staff. You may make a copy of these reports and edit your copy.
- Any of your Inactive Custom Reports will be deactivated if not used in the last year.
The phases of this release: We are releasing five groups in this release. That will be Accounting, CRM, Customer List, Employee, and Export Reports. A chart will be included for each group released denoting new reports and new report type objects (see below). Every 2 weeks we we hope to release another group.
New reports will be included in most groups. In this first group you will find the following NEW reports:
- Accounting: Tax Jurisdiction Report
- Customer: List by Sales Rep Report
- Prospect: List Report
- Prospect: List by Sales Rep Report
- Prospect: List with Contacts Report
- Customer: New by Create Date Report
We highly suggest reviewing and deactivating any unused or unwanted reports to keep the list organized and to save server space. Over time we will be removing the old stock reports (with notice).
User Defined Fields added to the Issue Tracking Module
We added the ability to create User Defined Fields for the Issue Tracking module. Below are the steps and screenshots to help you set up these new fields.
1. In Admin Settings > User Defined Field menu, we created a new section for Issue Tracking. After selecting this new option, you can create up to 15 new UDFs.
2. On the Issue Tracking Screen, these newly defined fields will be displayed.
3. The standard Issue/Resolution Report now has access to these new 15 UDFs so you can add these fields to your report.
Notable UI Updates
Unique Page Titles have been added to Midnight so that when you have multiple tabs open, you can see the title of each of those pages. The page titles are also extended to the name of the bookmark when you choose to bookmark a page in Midnight.
We added the words Version and Order to the headers on the amount columns of the Order. We also added the word Due after the Amount, both changes aim to reduce confusion in this area. (See screenshot below).
We are now showing the Midnight version number on the login screen
Correction Worth Mentioning
The Order Version Status dropdown menu in the Order was not sorted by the priority # that is set up in the Admin menu. The order Version Status dropdown is now in priority order instead of alpha-numeric order.
