Printer's Plan Product Update + AI Features (9/30/2026) Follow
The following questions were submitted during the webinar. Answers have been consolidated from the live discussion and webinar Q&A to provide a simple customer-facing reference.
Printer’s Plan SQL & Product Roadmap
Q: Do these new features require the SQL version of Printer’s Plan?
A: Yes. The new features discussed in the webinar require the SQL version of Printer’s Plan.
Q: When will Proofing and Print Reach Drive be available?
A: At the time of the webinar, Proofing and Print Reach Drive were expected to roll out within approximately 30 to 60 days. The team is working with beta customers first to make sure the features are working well before broader release.
Q: When is the new Printer’s Plan Next interface expected?
A: Printer’s Plan Next is still early in development. At the time of the webinar, the earliest expected availability was later in 2027.
Print Reach Drive & Proofing
Q: Can Print Reach Drive map directly to our existing local server or network storage?
A: Not directly. Print Reach Drive is cloud-hosted storage. The roadmap includes the ability to sync files from Print Reach Drive back to local devices or business storage through a syncing agent.
Q: Can we use Print Reach Drive without using the Proofing feature?
A: Yes. Print Reach Drive can be used without the Proofing feature.
Q: Can AI Mail place files into Print Reach Drive and also into a local network location?
A: AI Mail is not available in Printer’s Plan today. The current design direction is for files received through that future workflow to be stored in Print Reach Drive and associated with the appropriate Printer’s Plan record.
Q: Can a packing slip show a partial delivery quantity for one item?
A: There is not currently a partial-quantity feature for this workflow. The feature does support sub-items, so a multi-part item can be built with sub-items and the applicable sub-item used for the packing slip workflow.
AI, MCP & API
Q: Is the Printer’s Plan MCP server available now?
A: The MCP server can be used now with the SQL version of Printer’s Plan and the appropriate API access.
Q: Is the MCP integrated with Scheduler so production data can be used for a custom dashboard?
A: Not yet. Scheduler read/write functionality will require expansion of the Printer’s Plan API. That expansion is planned, and Scheduler access was identified as a high-priority area. Once Scheduler functionality is exposed through the API, the MCP server will be able to use it.
Q: What types of write actions are expected first through the MCP/API?
A: Write functionality is still early and is expected to start with a limited feature set, then expand over time. The webinar referenced examples from Midnight, another Print Reach MIS, such as creating or updating customers and jobs. Specific Printer’s Plan write actions and release timing were not confirmed during the webinar.
Q: Can the MCP create a scheduled report and automatically email it to specific employees?
A: The MCP can be used to create report-style outputs and save repeatable prompts as skills. Automatic scheduled emailing of those reports was not confirmed during the webinar.
Q: How is customer data handled when using Claude, and is it retained or used by Anthropic?
A: This question was submitted during the webinar, but a confirmed answer was not provided during the session. Customers should review the privacy, retention, and data-use terms associated with their own AI provider and account type before connecting business data.
Payments & Industry Workflows
Q: What is the status of Canadian online payments?
A: Canadian online payment support is in active development. Because the work involves Printer’s Plan, Midnight, and Print Reach Central, the related updates need to be coordinated before release. At the time of the webinar, the feature was expected in 2027, but an exact release date was not provided.
Q: Are label and packaging workflows planned, including label printing, box printing, die-cutting pricing, and related documents?
A: Printer’s Plan Next is expected to introduce a new approach for shipping labels and other documents produced by that workflow. The team is currently focused on the core feature set first, with additional tools to follow. Specific functionality for label printing, box printing, and die-cutting pricing was not confirmed during the webinar.
AI Mail
Q: When will AI Mail be available in Printer’s Plan?
A: AI Mail is planned as part of the future Printer’s Plan Next workflow, but a specific release date was not confirmed during the webinar.
Q: What is the goal of AI Mail?
A: AI Mail is being designed to connect email communication with Printer’s Plan data. The concept shown during the webinar included identifying customers, linking messages to quotes, orders, proofs, purchase orders, and invoices, creating customer records from email details, and drafting replies using the context available in Printer’s Plan. These capabilities are planned and are not currently available in Printer’s Plan.
