Midnight v9.10.0 (10/19/2024) Release Notes Follow
Recent Updates to the Customer Portal (CRM)
We’ve made several important updates to enhance the security and usability of the Customer Portal.
1. Password Management in Midnight Admin
Previously, the password for Customer Portal users was visible to Midnight users with the proper permissions. To improve security, passwords are no longer displayed in plain text.
-
Password Reset: Midnight users with the appropriate permissions can still reset passwords. The password field will now appear blank when the Edit option is selected. This allows administrators to enter a new password without seeing the old one.
- No Change in Password: The current password will remain unchanged if no changes are made to the password field during editing.
-
Password Change: If a new password is entered, it must meet the following requirements:
- Must be at least 8 characters long.
- Must not contain the username.
- Must include characters from three of the following four categories:
- Uppercase letters (A-Z)
- Lowercase letters (a-z)
- Numbers (0-9)
- Special characters (e.g., !, @, #)
- New User Passwords: When adding new users to the portal, their password must also meet the requirements above.
2. Login Attempts and Account Locking
We’ve implemented a security measure similar to the Midnight system for handling incorrect login attempts.
- If a portal user enters an incorrect password five times, their account will be temporarily locked.
- A message will be displayed:
“Your account has been locked due to too many login attempts. Please ask an administrator to reset your password and try again.”
An administrator will need to reset the user’s password to unlock the account.
These updates are designed to provide a more secure and user-friendly experience for both Midnight administrators and Customer Portal users.
If there is postage tax, include it at the top of the Order screen
In this release, we have updated the way Postage totals and taxes are displayed on the Order screen to ensure consistency with how Services are shown.
Change Details:
- Previous Behavior: The Order screen displayed the Service total with tax at the top, but did not include Postage tax in the same area, even if postage tax was applied to the order.
- New Behavior: The label at the top of the Order screen has been updated to read "Postage Total & Tax." If postage tax is applied to the order, it will now be displayed next to the postage total, similar to how Services tax is displayed.
This update improves clarity by showing all relevant taxes directly on the Order screen, ensuring you have a full overview of both Service and Postage totals with their respective taxes.
Copy Wide Format Templates
We have added the ability to copy wide format templates, much in the same way you can copy Print Product Templates.
Fixed Issue with Inventory Items on Copied Purchase Orders
We have resolved an issue where copying a Purchase Order (PO) and changing the Vendor Name would result in the removal of all inventory line items. This occurred even when the "Enable non-vendor inventory items in purchase orders" option was checked under Global Settings, which should allow inventory items flagged as PO Items to be retained without needing to be added to the Vendor's Frequently Purchased Items tab. The logic has been corrected so that inventory items remain on the PO when a Vendor is changed, as long as this setting is enabled.

Added "Invoice Number" to the Order Extended Search.
Added "Type" to the Invoice Selection Window (Payments>New Payment>Select Invoice).
Use the Company Name and the Contact Name from the Order (Shipping Tab) on the Invoice Bill To section. Use detail in the CRM Shipping/Billing tab if nothing is noted on the Order, and use the CRM default address and CRM default payer if nothing is noted in the Shipping/Billing area.
Complete the Title and PO fields on the Invoice when only one order is being invoiced and the invoice is being launched from PRC or Midnight Accounting.
Add "Default Payer" beside the list of contacts on the Invoice and Postage Request when selecting a new contact.
We've added the ability to Merge and Unmerge individual line items within the Services and/or Departments. The screenshot below shows the Design department has multiple services that can be merged into one line.
The screenshot below shows that same department with all the services rolled up to the department level while leaving all other departments unmerged.
Filter the orders available to invoice to only closed orders.
When negative amounts are added to the services or postage lines of the order, we now include the detail on the popup window so they can be added to the invoice. This is helpful when a discount or credit is given on the order.
