How to Create a Print Template Group Follow
Overview:
Midnight offers the flexibility to create/manage many print product templates to be used for print estimating within the print calculator. Creating print template groups is a nice way to organize and group your print product templates by specific criteria.
How It Works:
Midnight allows you to create an unlimited number of print templates, so organizing them into groups can make it easier to find and select the right template in the print calculator. For instance, you might group templates by the type of print job (e.g., postcards, booklets, business cards) or by customer to keep track of specialty templates for specific clients. There's no right or wrong way to organize your template groups—choose the method that works best for you.
Print template groups are set up in the standard service module under the admin menu. When creating a template group, you'll need to assign it a service name, description, code, and service type. There are two key steps to setting up a print template group:
- Check the 'Print Template Group' box as shown in the screenshot below. This marks it as a template group rather than a standard service. *Please note that you can create template groups for wide format calculators as well by checking the 'WF Template Group' checkbox*
- Uncheck the 'Active' box as shown in the screenshot below. Marking it as inactive prevents the template group from being selected as a service line item in estimates or orders.
- Print Template Groups let you easily organize your print templates by job type, customer, or any other criteria that works for you. You have complete flexibility in how you set up your groups.
- Since these groups are created in the admin menu under the standard services module, an admin user will need to set them up.
- Print Template Groups can be utilized in both the standard print calculator as well as the wide format calculator in Midnight.
- Just remember to mark the template group as inactive in the standard service screen. If it’s left active, it will appear as an option to add as a service line item in estimates or orders.
