How to Create a Print Template Group Follow
Midnight provides the flexibility to create and manage an unlimited number of Print Product Templates for use within the Print Calculator. As the number of templates grows, Print Template Groups can be used to organize templates into logical categories, making them easier to locate and maintain.
How It Works:
Print Template Groups allow administrators to organize Print Product Templates based on criteria that are meaningful to their organization. Grouping templates can simplify template selection, improve consistency, and reduce the amount of time spent searching for the correct template during estimating.
There is no required structure for Print Template Groups. Organizations are encouraged to create groups that best fit their estimating process and make it easier for users to locate the correct template.
Properly organized Print Template Groups can improve usability, streamline estimating, and help ensure users consistently select the appropriate Print Product Template for each job.
Print template groups are set up in the standard service module under the admin menu. When creating a template group, you'll need to assign it a service name, description, code, and service type. There are two key steps to setting up a print template group:
- Check the 'Print Template Group' box as shown in the screenshot below. This marks it as a template group rather than a standard service. *Please note that you can create template groups for wide format calculators as well by checking the 'WF Template Group' checkbox*
- Uncheck the 'Active' box as shown in the screenshot below. Marking it as inactive prevents the template group from being selected as a service line item in estimates or orders.

- When creating a Template Group, select the Print Template Group checkbox or WF Template Group checkbox as appropriate.
- Template Groups should be marked as Inactive so they do not appear as available service line items on Estimates or Orders.
- Leaving a Template Group active may allow users to accidentally add it as a service instead of using it solely for template organization.
