Adding a system report to a module's Quick Links menu
You might have team members who need fast access to a report without them having to physically access the main reports menu. Likewise, there may be report you wish someone to use, but you’d rather limit them from having to navigate through the main reports menu to locate it. On each screen within Midnight, you may have noticed there is a Quick Links option in the top-right hand corner of the screen. Midnight comes with options under each Quick Links menu related to functions you may perform within that screen. You are able to add additional Quick Links options to any given menu, including system reports!
Let’s say you’d like to add the Inventory Report to the CRM module so your sales team can quickly look up a client’s inventory while they are working with that client. First while you are in preview mode of the report, make note of the full web address of the report. (You will need this later.) To add the report to the CRM module, click on Admin using the gear in the top-right hand corner of the screen. (If you do not have access to Admin, your Midnight Champion can make this change.) Within Admin, locate Global Settings in the list on the left. Within Global Settings, click the Custom Links option within the blue menu.
In the last line of the page (the grey line), you may add the new Quick Link. For the Link Type, select “Report” from the drop-down. Type in the desired name for the report in the Link Name, this is what your team will choose when they run the report. The Module Name is the module where you want to add the report (for example, CRM). The Page Name is the specific page within the module you want to add the report. In our example, the page name is “CRM”. Within the Command fied, you will enter the web address of the report, minus your specific site name. (Everything after the “.com” is needed.) The Sort controls the order you wish your custom link to appear (after the built in Midnight links). (The Midnight Quick Links appear first in every drop-down.) After you enter the information, click the update icon at the far right of the screen and then click the green Save button.
Make sure you receive the Data Saved Successfully prompt before leaving the screen.
The report will now be available for your team under Quick Links within the page of the module you selected.
After selecting the report, the report will open in a new tab where your team may then run the report as normal.
