Understanding Expr and Variance in Service Wizards
Whether you are new to Service Wizards or it has been a while, you may need confirmation on what the "Expr" and "Variance" mean so you know how to translate your price changes to what you should enter in Midnight.
The two fields work together to control how an option should change (or not) for that selection.
The "Expr" within service wizard setup refers to the mathematical expression. The options are +, -, X and /. (Plus, minus, multiply and divide)
The Variance refers to the value (numeric quantity) that element should change, used in conjunction with the expression.
Midnight allows you to change the run rate, setup fee and pricing with wizards.
If for example, if I have a wizard that asks how many inserts and my answer for "Two Inserts" should have a change in price of .001 each, I would enter "+" for the Price Expr and ".001" for the price variance. In this same example, if there is no change in my setup fee, I could have "+" in the Setup Fee Expr and "0" in the Setup Fee Variance to denote this.
Know that each sequential answer within a wizard builds upon the question before it. Map out your work prior to entry in Midnight to make it easier.
